How it works

Bismuth subsalicylate coats and soothes the stomach lining. It also reduces fluid secretion in the gut and has a mild antibacterial effect, which is why it helps with diarrhea, including travellers' diarrhea.

How to use

Shake well. Measure with the dose cup provided, following the package directions for ages 12 and older.

Important

  • Contains a salicylate. Do not use if you are allergic to ASA, take blood thinners, or have an ulcer or bleeding disorder.
  • Not for children or teens recovering from flu or chickenpox (Reye's syndrome risk).
  • A temporary black tongue or stool is harmless.
  • See a doctor if diarrhea lasts more than 2 days, or comes with fever or bloody stools.
