How to Use
Tampax Pearl tampons are designed to be worn internally to absorb menstrual flow. Proper use helps ensure comfort, hygiene, and maximum protection.
- Wash your hands before handling the tampon.
- Sit or stand in a comfortable position.
- Remove the tampon from its wrapper.
- Hold the applicator (larger end closest to you) with your thumb and middle finger.
- Gently guide the applicator into the vagina until the outer tube is comfortably inside.
- Press the inner tube with your index finger to insert the tampon.
- Remove the applicator and dispose of it in a trash bin (do not flush).
- Ensure the string hangs outside for easy removal.
Change the tampon every 4–8 hours or sooner if saturated. Do not leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours to reduce the risk of irritation or health complications.
Dosage
Managing how often you change your tampon is important:
- Ultra Absorbency: Designed for heavier menstrual flow days.
- Change every 4–8 hours based on flow level.
- Do not exceed 8 hours of continuous wear.
Frequent changing helps prevent discomfort, maintain hygiene, and reduce the risk of conditions such as toxic shock syndrome (TSS).
Precautions
Using tampons safely protects your health and comfort. Follow these precautions:
- Choose the correct absorbency. Ultra Absorbency is intended for heavier flow. If your flow is lighter, consider switching to a lower absorbency to prevent dryness or irritation.
- Wash your hands before inserting and after removing a tampon.
- Do not use tampons when you’re not on your period.
- Avoid using more than one tampon at a time.
- If you experience discomfort, stop and reposition; do not force insertion.
- Seek medical advice if you notice symptoms such as fever, dizziness, vomiting, rash, or unusual discharge — these could indicate TSS or infection.
- Store tampons in a cool, dry place and keep out of reach of children.
Do not flush tampons down the toilet — always dispose of them in a trash bin.
Side Effects
Most individuals use Tampax Pearl tampons without any issues, but occasional mild reactions can occur:
- Vaginal dryness or mild irritation
- Itching or discomfort if a tampon is left in too long
- Allergic reaction to materials (rare)
Stop use and consult a healthcare provider if discomfort persists or if you notice any unusual symptoms such as strong odor, itching, discharge, or pain.
