NFH Restore SAP is a multi-strain probiotic — 10.5 billion CFU — combining Saccharomyces boulardii with Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains, a blend specifically studied to reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

Why combine yeast and bacterial probiotics

Saccharomyces boulardii is a beneficial yeast rather than a bacterium, which means antibiotics don't kill it off the way they do bacterial strains — making it useful specifically during antibiotic courses, when bacterial probiotics are fighting an uphill battle. Combining it with Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains covers both the antibiotic-resistant yeast angle and general bacterial gut support, and this combination is specifically studied for protecting against pathogens like C. difficile. Multi-strain formulas are generally more effective than single-strain probiotics for restoring gut microbial balance.
