Artemisia annua — sweet wormwood, or qinghao in Chinese herbal tradition — is one of the better-documented plants in the botanical world. Its principal compound, artemisinin, was isolated in the 1970s by Tu Youyou, work that later earned a share of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

What's in the capsule

500 mg of standardized Artemisia annua extract per capsule, standardized to 10% artemisinin. The plant also naturally carries sesquiterpene lactones and the bitter compounds characteristic of the wormwood family.

Why standardization is essential here

Artemisinin content in Artemisia annua varies dramatically with cultivar, growing region, harvest timing and extraction method — one of the widest ranges of any commercial botanical. A product that simply says "wormwood extract" without a standardization figure is close to unquantifiable. The 10% specification is what makes this dose meaningful.

This is a short-course, practitioner-directed botanical rather than a daily maintenance supplement. Most protocols run for a defined period with a specific dose, and it's not intended for indefinite use. Follow the label or your practitioner's instructions.
