HEMAFORTE FE Heme Iron Supplement, 30 Capsules

HEMAFORTE FE contains heme iron, the same form of iron found in red meat. The body absorbs heme iron through its own pathway, separate from the iron salts used in standard supplements.

Why heme iron

Ordinary iron tablets use non-heme iron, such as ferrous sulfate, fumarate or gluconate. Their absorption can be reduced by tea, coffee, dairy, calcium and antacids, which is why they come with so many timing rules. Heme iron is less affected by these foods and drinks. Many people also find it easier on the stomach.

The 30-capsule bottle

This bottle is a one-month supply. It is a good size for trying heme iron for the first time or for a short course.

Before you start

• Get tested first. Ask your doctor for a ferritin test and a CBC to confirm a deficiency and find its cause. Iron builds up in the body, so don't supplement without a reason.
• Keep out of reach of children. Accidental iron overdose is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in young children. If a child swallows any, contact your local poison centre right away.
• Talk to a health professional first if you:
  • have haemochromatosis or another iron-overload disorder
  • take thyroid medication, certain antibiotics or other regular medicines
• Contains an animal-derived ingredient, so it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
