Dulcolax 10 Enteric Coated Tablets

Dulcolax is the familiar bedtime laxative for occasional constipation. Its enteric coating carries bisacodyl past the stomach to the bowel, where it stimulates movement, so a tablet at night usually brings relief by morning.

Formula

• Medicinal: bisacodyl 5 mg per tablet
• Non-medicinal: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, glycerol, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid copolymer, talc, titanium dioxide, sucrose, macrogol and coating ingredients

How to take

• Adults and children 12 and older: 1–2 tablets once a day, ideally at bedtime; start with 1
• Children 6–11: 1 tablet once a day. Not for children under 6 unless a doctor advises it
• Swallow whole with a glass of water; don't crush, chew or split
• Keep away from milk, antacids and acid reducers around the same time

Precautions

• For short-term use; see a doctor if constipation lasts over 7 days
• Don't use with severe or unexplained abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting
• Ask first if pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a history of bowel blockage, inflammatory bowel disease, dehydration, or take diuretics
• Common: cramps, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea. Overuse can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance
• Stop and seek help for rectal bleeding, severe pain, swelling or trouble breathing
