Contingency One Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg Tablet

Contingency One is a single-tablet emergency contraceptive, often called the morning-after pill. It contains 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel and is used to reduce the chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex or a contraceptive slip-up, such as a broken condom or missed pills.

When to take it

• As soon as possible, ideally within 12 hours
• No later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex

How it works

It mainly stops or delays the release of an egg. It won't work if you're already pregnant and it doesn't end a pregnancy.

Important

• For emergencies, not as routine birth control
• Doesn't protect against sexually transmitted infections
• Read the package insert for side effects and interactions; see a health professional if your period is more than a week late
