How to Use
How to use Clearblue® Ultra Early Pregnancy Test
When to test
- Test up to 6 days before your missed period, which is 5 days before your expected period.
- If testing before your expected period, use the first urine of the day. Otherwise, you can test at any time of the day.
- Don’t drink lots of liquid before taking the test.
Take the test
Remove the foil wrapper and take off the cap. Use the test stick straight away.
CHOOSE YOUR TESTING METHOD
IMPORTANT: The colour change tip will instantly turn pink showing that urine is being absorbed.
- Hold the colour change tip in your urine stream for a full 5 seconds. OR
- Completely immerse the tip only in a sample of your urine collected in a clean, dry container for a full 20 seconds.
- Replace the cap and lay the test stick flat.
- Start timing.
- WAIT 3 MINUTES before reading your results.
Read your result
- A line in the control window may start to appear quickly but you MUST wait 3 minutes before reading your result.
- IMPORTANT! Read your result within 10 minutes of doing a test. Disregard any changes to your result after this time.
*1. 79% of pregnant results can be detected 6 days before your missed period.
Dosage
This pregnancy test is not a medicine, so it does not have a dosage in the traditional sense. Correct use depends on timing and sample collection.
- Use one test stick for one testing session
- Test from 6 days before your missed period, including 5 days before the expected date
- Use early morning urine for stronger hormone detection
- If the result is negative and your period does not begin, repeat with the second test after a few days
- Do not reuse a test stick
The two-test pack offers added reassurance for patients who want to test early and retest if needed.
Precautions
This diagnostic kit should be used exactly as directed. Accuracy depends on proper handling, timing, and urine concentration. A very early test can show a negative result if hCG levels are still low. Testing again after a missed period improves confirmation.
Keep these precautions in mind:
- For in vitro diagnostic use only
- Do not use after the expiry date
- Do not open the foil pouch until ready to test
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Keep out of reach of children
- Avoid excessive fluid intake before testing, as diluted urine can affect results
- Fertility medicines containing hCG can interfere with the result
- Read all instructions before starting the test
Patients with irregular cycles should count carefully before testing early. If the result does not match symptoms or cycle history, repeat the test or speak with a healthcare professional.
Side Effects
This test does not cause physical side effects because it is an external diagnostic device and not an ingested medicine. However, some users experience emotional stress while waiting for results, especially during early testing.
Possible concerns linked with use include:
- Anxiety related to testing early
- Confusion if the test is taken too soon
- False negative results during very early pregnancy due to low hCG levels
- Unclear expectations if instructions are not followed properly
A digital display reduces reading errors and supports a more confident testing experience.
