Advil Extra Strength 400 mg, 16 Caplets

Advil Extra Strength puts 400 mg of ibuprofen into each caplet, a stronger single dose for headaches, muscle aches, minor arthritis pain and fever. As an NSAID, ibuprofen works on both the pain and the inflammation behind it.

Formula

• Medicinal: ibuprofen 400 mg per caplet
• Non-medicinal: corn starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, titanium dioxide

Directions

• Adults and children over 12: 1 caplet every 4 to 6 hours as needed
• Maximum 3 caplets (1,200 mg) in 24 hours
• Swallow whole with a full glass of water; if you miss a dose, just take the next one on schedule
• Not for children under 12
• Pain lasting more than 10 days, or anything unusual: speak to your healthcare provider

Safety

• Long-term use can raise the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding, heart attack or stroke
• Check with a doctor first if you have kidney disease, heart disease or past stomach problems
• Ask your doctor before use in pregnancy (avoid in the third trimester) and confirm with a provider if breastfeeding
• Limit alcohol; do not use if allergic to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs
• Possible effects: stomach upset, nausea, dizziness, mild headache
• Get medical help immediately for black or bloody stools, ongoing stomach pain, swollen ankles, dark urine, chest pain, slurred speech, hives or trouble breathing
